OpenSFS and Cray Offer a New-Member Discount

Cray has been involved with Lustre® since its deployment with the groundbreaking Cray supercomputer “Red Storm,” at Sandia National Laboratories. Since then, a lot has happened throughout the Lustre community. One of the major milestones was the formation of the Open Scalable File Systems (OpenSFS) consortium in 2010. As a founding member of OpenSFS, Cray is committed to its success — and to the future of Lustre. OpenSFS is the source for technical information on Lustre and the Lustre user community.

OpenSFS is the key vendor-neutral organization whose simple charter is to move Lustre forward.  OpenSFS has been responsible for advancing Lustre through both feature enhancements in new releases and through exhaustive, real-world testing, validation and bug reporting and fixing. This is where Cray has invested tons into Lustre — in validating Lustre at scale, and being a liaison for customer requests into Lustre.

One of the key factors in advancing Lustre is to increase end-customer participation in OpenSFS. To that end, Cray has worked with OpenSFS to enable a new jump-start membership program.

OpenSFS is offering new members $5,000 off their first-year membership. New members can apply the discount to any membership level (Promoter, Adopter or Supporter).* More info about this limited-time offer is available here.

OpenSFS supports multiple working groups focused on different areas of Lustre that dig into development, testing, benchmarking, administration and more. Each level gives your technical and business teams the ability to ask questions directly to Lustre experts, obtain the latest information and test out ideas.

As part of OpenSFS, each year users from the Lustre community come together to collaborate on innovations and share ideas. The Lustre User Group 2015 — the main Lustre event of the year — recently took place in Denver, Colo.  Cray sponsored the event, which featured a number of informative presentations. They are now available on demand.
